Morgan R. Jackson Introduction

WELCOME!
My name is Morgan Jackson. I released my first book, a poetry collection, in October 2024. I'm currently editing my debut novel, "Exponential Decay." When I published my initial book, I overlooked the importance of marketing. Now, nearly two years later, I'm finally building a website. Better late than never, right?
A LITTLE BACKGROUND
By the age of nine, I had relocated twelve times. Although I was born in PA, I've lived in various states and eventually settled in Michigan. After my parents divorced, we moved less frequently and settled in a small town where my great-grandma has a street named after her. Her father was a notable community member who named streets after each of his children—a fun fact. The town is so small that there are no street lights. There is only one main road with a single stop sign, and you can pass through downtown in under a minute.
Growing up (after we settled in a town), I was always surrounded by animals as we lived on a hobby farm with goats, chickens, horses, and cats. I was also accustomed to dogs running around. I was heavily involved with school and graduated with my associate degree after taking advantage of all the opportunities they provided.
HOW I BECAME A WRITER
When my parents separated, I discovered my love for reading as a way to escape reality. I found my passion for writing when I realized it was a storyline I could control. While I'd like to say it was purely for the love of writing, it was more about being able to create a happy ending when I felt powerless. My love for writing grew when I saw that I could create something others would enjoy.
Being an author was always a dream, especially during high school, but my self-esteem and confidence held me back until I was 28. I published my first book just weeks before turning 30. My husband was the one who encouraged me to pursue this dream, and he has been fully supportive ever since.
FUN FACTS ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I am married with two kids and a dog! They are my entire world and the reason I became an author. Without them, I wouldn't be here writing this.
Coffee and chocolate are my weaknesses. I complain about not being in shape, yet I'm the first to indulge in chocolate or coffee (with creamer).
People often debate the color of my hair. Of all the things they could argue about, I find it strange they choose that.
Growing up in a sheltered home, there were many books I wasn't allowed to read, but I loved literary fiction, (clean) romance, and suspense genres. The book series that captivated me was the Heartland series by Lauren Brooke. I thought I would grow up to be a horse whisperer.
My hobbies include crochet, reading, gardening, photography, and doing nothing.
My favorite writing snack: Coffee. Does that count as a snack? Yes. If we can consider it a meal, we can consider it a snack.
Am I a plotter or pantser? That's a great question. Ever since I was a kid, I've been a pantser. HOWEVER, the only books that have been published or completed are ones I plotted out and then modified as I went. SO, I guess that makes me a successful plotter and an unsuccessful pantser.
